It can't hear me, or my score comes out zero

It's almost always one of these four, in this order:

If you see "I barely heard you" at the end, that is exactly this: the app needs to hear you for most of the exercise before it can score it honestly.

The exercises sit too high or too low for me

canta transposes every exercise to your range, so if they feel uncomfortable the measurement didn't go well. Measure your voice again under "Your voice" → measure range, and this time stop as soon as a note gets hard. Don't push for the extreme: one forced note puts every exercise in a register that isn't yours.

Your range changes over time and with warming up. Re-measuring every few weeks is normal.

It goes too fast

You can practise any exercise at 60 % or 80 % of the tempo. Slow practice counts just as much, with one deliberate difference: it doesn't mark the lesson as passed. Slow is for learning, full tempo is for proving it.

I don't recognise the note names

Under "Your voice" you can choose how notes are named:

The app suggests whichever is usual for your language, but your choice wins.

My instrument isn't tuned to 440 Hz

The reference tuning is configurable from 432 to 444 Hz under "Your voice". Every guide tone and every score is recalculated against the one you pick, so you can practise alongside a piano, an orchestra or a band that doesn't use 440.

Changing the language

canta starts in your phone's language when it has it, and you can change it under "Your voice". Available: Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Turkish, Indonesian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Hindi.

Deleting my progress

"Your voice" → "Delete my progress". Everything goes: lessons, scores, history, points and achievements. Uninstalling the app does the same. Since nothing is stored outside your phone, there are no copies anywhere else.

My throat hurts when I sing

Stop. Singing should not hurt, and pain or hoarseness is the signal that something is wrong with the technique or that your voice is tired. canta warns you at twenty minutes and suggests a rest day after a week straight, but those warnings are general guidance, not a diagnosis.

canta is not a substitute for a singing teacher or a voice doctor. If pain, hoarseness or loss of voice persists, see a healthcare professional.
